Overview
Chelsea Creek is an approximately 18-acre waterfront site located at the confluence of Mill Creek and Chelsea Creek in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Historically used for industrial purposes, the site has remained largely vacant and has experienced multiple unsuccessful redevelopment efforts over time.
Mass Audubon, The Neighborhood Developers, and GreenRoots are working together to transform Chelsea Creek into a climate-resilient, mixed-use waterfront community. The vision includes affordable housing, publicly accessible open space, restored natural habitat, a nature center and environmental education opportunities, community gathering spaces, and improved waterfront access.
The redevelopment is an opportunity to revitalize a long-vacant industrial site and reconnect the Chelsea community to its waterfront. Housing will be integrated with open green space, restored habitat, and places for people to gather, learn, and access the water. The project will create new opportunities for the Chelsea community to experience and enjoy a waterfront that has long been inaccessible.
